WEF Press Conference and Big Dog Ranch Rescue

Tonight is another quick post before I head off to bed. I have to get up by 5:30 tomorrow morning to get my run in before I head to the office and the first day of WEF, so definitely need my sleep!

Got my media credentials today!

Today was the media press conference to kick-off the start of the 2013 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival. The press conference was led by Mark Bellissimo of Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC., Dennis Shaughnessy of FTI Consulting, and gold medalists Laura Kraut and Nick Skelton. In addition to hearing from the four of them, I got my media credentials and press pass, and I discovered possibly the greatest and most dangerous part of the press pass – the free food that comes with it!!

Part of the Phelps Sports and Phelps Media Group team at the press conference

Shortly after the press conference five of us from the Phelps Media Group team headed over to get a tour from one of our clients, Big Dog Ranch Rescue. The dog rescue takes in healthy, unwanted dogs as well as an overwhelming number of dogs that would otherwise be euthanized at other shelters due to medical conditions. They have full-time veterinary staff that works to rehabilitate the dogs before finding them great new homes! It was sad to see some of the dogs that were just skin and bones and all of the dogs that have yet to find homes, but it was awesome to see what Big Dog Ranch Rescue does for them. These puppies were my personal favorite of the day:
