I know not everyone opts to have an engagement party, but as soon as Justin and I got engaged, I knew I wanted to have one! Our families had never met before, so I thought it would be a fun way for both sides of the family and our bridal party to all be introduced for the first, and it was!! (At least in my opinion; hopefully the families agree! 😉 )
I used my limited Photoshop skills to send out these simple, [what I thought were] funny invitations (partially blurred out here…not sent like that! hah), and a small group of 29 total parents, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and friends joined us at the Lancaster Polo Club for a fun afternoon of new introductions, good conversation, food, and polo!!:
My brother-in-law, Jeff Frandsen, will be shooting our wedding, and he generously agreed to also snap a few photos of our engagement party day!
We wanted to do everything ourselves rather than hiring a caterer or decorator, so we kept both food and decor really simple! My absolute favorite thing though had to be the desserts section!
Just two or three days before the engagement party, I showed Justin cupcake stands on Etsy like this and this, and the day before the party he made two of them!! I think they turned out awesome, and I’m always so impressed by his handiness on these things! Sorry, his Etsy shop is not yet available 😉 but these are somewhat similar.
The delicious cupcakes were made by KatieCakes & Co., and I can’t say enough good things about them! If you’re in PA, I definitely recommend checking out Katie’s cakes and cupcakes! So good! (Get the cookie dough ones…😋)
Justin’s mom makes the best iced sugar cookies and made the above cookies in Justin and I’s initials…and she made the chocolate covered strawberries below!
Friends and more family not pictured, but so thankful for everyone who sent their well wishes or took the time out of their weekend to spend with us! Justin and I are definitely super blessed to go through the whole wedding planning and season with such great people! <3
